News:Successful contract signing for the construction and operation of the Nordwestbahnhof education campus

by Marco Seltenreich

By 2028, a new education campus for up to 1,600 children will be built at the former Nordwestbahnhof site on Rebhanngasse as part of the City of Vienna’s “BIENE II” education infrastructure programme. A bidding consortium consisting of STRABAG Real Estate, HYPO NOE, and CAVERION emerged as the preferred bidder in the City of Vienna’s tender process. The signing of the PPP (public-private partnership) contract has recently been completed.
The new campus will include a kindergarten with 12 groups, a primary and lower secondary school with 33 classes, a special needs school with eight classes, as well as a music school, sports halls, creative rooms, therapy rooms, and kitchen facilities. The project is being brought to life by HYPO NOE, STRABAG Real Estate, and CAVERION, whose consortium won the tender as the best bidder. The signing of the PPP contract underlying the procurement process has recently taken place.
Strong project financing secured
Long-term financing is ensured through both equity provided by the consortium and external capital from DZ Bank AG German Central Cooperative Bank (Frankfurt am Main) and the European Investment Bank (EIB). The corresponding financing agreements were concluded in parallel with the PPP contract.
Reliable partners for construction and operation
STRABAG AG and CAVERION are responsible for timely construction on behalf of the consortium. Upon commencement of use, CAVERION will take over facility management for a contractual period of 25 years, and in this role will be responsible for ongoing operations and technical building management.
