Almost exactly one year after the topping-out ceremony and two years after the groundbreaking, Green Cube is celebrating its next milestone: with Habyt, the world’s largest flexible housing company has officially taken over the premises in Vienna’s Nordbahnviertel district.
Located in close proximity to the Praterstern transport hub as well as the popular recreational areas of the Prater and Danube Island, temporary living in 319 apartments will further enrich Vienna’s tourism offering.
Following Graz in 2023, Green Cube will become Habyt’s second location in Austria and its first in Vienna. The Berlin-based company already operates successful properties across Asia and Europe.
“Green Cube Vienna sets new standards for apartment hotels,” says Habyt CEO Luca Bovone. “With premium design, a wellness center including sauna and gym, a cinema, co-working spaces, food and beverage offerings, and much more, our new location provides the perfect stay for both business travelers checking in for a single night and expats making Vienna their home for several months. This is the future of hospitality, and we are proud to bring it to life together with STRABAG Real Estate.”

Erol Milo, Head of Commercial at STRABAG Real Estate, said: “I am proud that with Green Cube we have once again demonstrated that, as a project and district developer, we are pioneers in sustainability, planning reliability, and quality—and of the high-caliber collaborations this approach enables. I am pleased that the already lively and diverse Nordbahnviertel is being enriched with a high-end offering of serviced apartments.”

ow sealing, sheep’s wool insulation in interior walls, CO₂-optimized concrete with a reduced clinker content, and green façades and roof surfaces.
As with the flagship project Taborama, STRABAG Real Estate again focused on resource-efficient and environmentally responsible implementation. “After pioneering new approaches in sustainability with Taborama, it was important to me to establish this innovative approach in the commercial sector as well,” says Green Cube project manager Reinhard Hoch. “I am convinced that this new way of building will become increasingly important and that expertise in this area will be in ever higher demand. It is therefore all the more gratifying that we can now point to two projects in which we have demonstrated our commitment to sustainable construction.”

In particular, by using sheep’s wool, a distinctive unique selling point has been established in contemporary urban construction. The insulation material has air-purifying properties, filters pollutants from indoor air, acts hygroscopically, and effectively absorbs moisture. In addition, the use of clinker-reduced ECO TB+ concrete enabled a CO₂ reduction of 47% (compared to conventional concrete).
